Meet the trainer - Jessica
Jessica Kuehlman has spent her life around animals. She began training with her first dog Magnum in 1992. Since that time, she has been working with dogs in one way or another. She spent more than 10 years working at a veterinary clinic and has been volunteering/fostering for the Siberian Husky rescue MUSHR (Minnesota’s Unwanted Siberian Husky Rescue) for almost as long. Starting with her first Siberian, Magnum, to her current Siberians, each dog, job and experience has given her an original insight into training and dog behavior.
Pictured here is Jessica and her dog Willis doing an obedience demonstration at an event in Minneapolis. Willis was rescued from a puppy mill in April 2015 when he was 12 years old. He had never been in a home before, on a leash or in a crate. Through obedience training, Jessica taught Willis how to comfortably live in a home, ride in a car, walk easily on leash and learn basic obedience commands – all basic behavior dogs need in today’s society.
As a foster, Jessica has evaluated, trained, and placed more than 100 dogs. This has given her hands-on experience with many behaviors, from reactivity to other dogs to being fearful. Being part of rescue as well as having a more challenging breed herself, Siberian Huskies, Jessica has been exposed to behaviors that many other trainers have not experienced.
Through it all, Jessica enjoys helping owners and their pets create greater understanding of each other. Her teaching style puts both the owner and dog at ease. Through patience and consistency, any dog can be taught to trust and become a well-behaved member of society.
