Listening + Trust = Obedience

Too often we think of training as restricting the freedom of the dog. We see obedience as a regimented style of living with dogs and us “barking” out orders. However, the latin root meaning of the word obedience is “to listen”. As in any relationship, first we need to listen to each other. Without listening we will not hear what our dog needs and our dogs will not hear what we need.

Trinity Dogs goes beyond basic training. We teach you and your dog to listen to each other. You will learn the language of your dog and your dog will learn your language. This creates a relationship of trust between the two of you. In both canine and human language, if we trust something it means we are listening.

Starting $125 for one hour

In-Home Package

This package includes five private sessions in your home with you and your dog. In addition to learning the basic obedience commands such as sit, stay, and come, you and your dog will build trust and confidence with each other. Private sessions in your home allow the focus to be on you and your dog. For dogs that may be reactive to people or other dogs or for dogs that are fearful, in home sessions work best.

Group Classes

For dogs and puppies 5 months and up, Trinity Dogs offers group classes at Lake Nokomis Community Center. Classes are small to help give you and your dog individualized attention. New classes start every month. Group classes are great for dogs that are not fearful or reactive to other people and/or dogs. You and your dog will be taught the basics of obedience training including how to have your pet focus on you (a great tool to use for potential distractions on walks).

Walk and Train

Walk and Train sessions are held at Lake Nokomis and help make you and your pet “distraction proof” in real-life settings. One of the biggest requests dog trainers hear is to teach pets to walk by other dogs and people without reacting (ie: barking, pulling suddenly or other unwanted reactions). In order to qualify for this class, dogs and their owners must have completed an in-home package and/or an 8 week group class.

In-Home Puppy Package

The puppy package is an in-home session that helps you and your new puppy get started on the right paw. Trinity Dogs will help you with housebreaking and crate training, recommend the best toys for your pup, and much, much more.

Puppy Socialization Classes

For puppies 8-24 weeks, this class will expose them to a variety of different situations such as adult dogs, children, strangers as well as different textures and noises. Puppies will learn the basics of attention and how to sit while handlers learn overall leash handling. In addition, there will be individualized help with other puppy behaviors such as chewing, mouthing and jumping in a question and answer format. With exposure to different situations and learning the beginning of basic manners, we’ll create a more confident well-adjusted puppy and owner.
